I Need Your Honest Opinion

I have this urge to get my hair cut short. I mean, pretty short. Does anyone know Britt Brostrom? I love her hair! I want to get my hair cut like hers, but I don't know if I can pull it off. Not everyone has the face for a really short cut. You have to have just the right features, angles, whatever to look good. I just don't know if I do. I'm not asking if I'm pretty or attractive or anything like that. I know lots of beautiful people that wouldn't necessarily look good with a short haircut. I just need to know if I have a short haircut kind of face. Just tell it to me straight. I can take the honesty. I prefer bluntness, actually. It makes life so much easier and more refreshing.

Alice. The honest truth from me is this: I always want short hair (but cannot pull it off) and whenever I think of someone with cute, short hair, you are always the very first person I think of. In fact, I think I tried to copy your hair a few years ago (it didn't work.) Anyway, I love your look with short hair!

I do think you can pull off short hair but I am hoping that you have a really good hairdresser. It is vitally important that you go to someone that takes the cut you're hoping for but is able to mold it to what looks best on you. My best advice is if you see someone in person with a really stylish do ask who does their hair. Good Luck!
P.S Congrats to you and Cletus on the new practice that is awesome!

I second Mommyof5.

Go to an excellent hair stylist. (You know, the ones who sell the really really nice hair stuff in their shop.) I'd recommend mine, but she's in Cary.

But she's awesome.

The stylist would be able to tell you what would look good, not only based on your face shape, but your hair characteristics as well.

I agree with all - I definitely think you can pull of cute short hair! And also agree that it's most important to be sure you have a good hair stylist. Other than that - be sure to post photos when you get it done!

first of all, i know you will discount what i say, because, after all, i AM your mother and i always think you're beautiful. also i have had several short haircuts that you didn't like. actually, i don't think i'll leave my opinion now. what's the use?

but while i'm on the subject, who gave you your first short haircut? (i never CAN resist giving my opinion.) (as you know.)

My question for you is do you like styling products? I have seen Britt's hair and I agree it is totally cute. It takes a little more work and haircuts more often but I think you would look darling. I have been itching to get mine cut shorter too. Whenever I can't decide I usually GO FOR IT. Lol. Then If I don't like it I comfort myself with "it will grow back." Also for me, I at least always have to be able to tuck the bangs behind my ears or it drives me bonkers.

Actually bobby pins work for the bangs too...

So I heard you gave me a shout-out and I had to check it out! I already told you what I think but I'll say it again. I could definitely see you workin' a short sassy cut!
You just need to have it cut by someone who knows what they are doing. Make sure they use the "razor" on you when they are cutting too. It gives you more texture and it will help take out needless weight I think.

Also, one of my rules of haircuts (short or long) is that I hate styling, hair brushes, hairdryers, products..etc. So I tell the stylist that up front. After they gasp at my inability to do hardly anything with my hair, we move on, and they cut my hair as needed. Right now my hair is on the shaggier side and needs a trim, so I need to dry it a little in the morning, then I use a little pomeade on it smoothing out the front, tossing up the back...I recently learned how to use the iron and might use that on my longer bangs occasionally if they give me trouble. But really, a short cut can be as fun and simple or as over the top and high maintenance as you make it.

I've had to shop around for a while to find people who do a good job on a short cut. The last guy who cut my hair did a really good job...I am way overdue for a cut and it is still growing out very nicely...he listened to my weird language and hand motions and somehow made sense of it all!!
In case you work up the courage and would like to try him, his name was Andrew. (He used to do color on 5th Avenue...) He works at the ULTA over at Crossroads in Cary.

(You can get a coupon online for your first appt too.... ;)

Good luck on making the decision!!!

i love britt's hair too!!! i cannot do short hair, and if your hair is curly i am going to tell you now that it will not turn out the way you think, i have tried and it is always bad, but you have to know your hair, what will happen on humid days, because your face it definitely pretty enough!
